What is Chopping or Precision Cutting?
Precision cutting, commonly referred to as "chopping", is the process of converting continuous filament fibers into uniform, discrete lengths. These chopped fibers are typically cut to customer-specified sizes ranging from a few millimeters to several inches, depending on the end-use application. This process is essential for applications requiring improved dispersion, controlled fiber loading, or compatibility with specific processing equipment like molders, compounders, or paper manufacturers.
The Process of Precision Cutting
At Rocket-Fibers, we utilize specialized machinery that feeds continuous tow or multifilament yarns through tension-controlled rollers into high-speed rotary blades or guillotine-style cutters. The fibers are cleanly severed at precise lengths, with minimal fraying or thermal damage.
